Newton’s First Law of Motion

Question:
What will happen if we pull the string?

Hypothesis:
If we pull the string, the cups will fall into one another because of Newton’s First Law.

Materials:
– 5 cups
– 4 cards
– 4 strings

Procedure:
1. place a cup on the table
2. place a card on of the opening followed by another cup on top facing up.
3. repeat steps 1-2 four times
4. pull strings

Results:
all the cups fell into one another

Conclusion:
This was possible under Newton’s First Law of Motion because this law states that when an object in rest will remain at rest.
